Fruit and Vegetable Prints

The beautiful fruits and vegetables in a grocery store aren't just good to eat—they have other interesting uses. You can design wrapping paper and cards with prints from fruit and vegetables. Cut peppers or oranges in half then dip the cut surface in the paint. Squeeze most of the juice out of the orange half first, but be careful not to break the sections. You can make cross cuts in pieces of celery or carrots to print crescent shapes, circles, or ovals. Try printing a border to from a picture or a poem you wrote.

For variation, try using colored paper with white or colored tempera paint for making the prints.
